national tyres

Somewhile ago I went online and booked my car in my local centre for oil change for my 1.8 civic castrol edge 0w30 fantastic value,a few days prior to the appointment date I got a phone call from customer services saying the actual centre booked did not use that oil and would 5w30 be alright!I Was'nt to happy and cancelled.Strange that head office enters in a contract without checking availability first!

I had mine done in Maidstone and they did ask if I used 0-30 or 5-30 but told them I used 0-30 and I did check and they did have a large drum marked 0-30.

And to be honest they could have put anything in and i don't think you could tell but they seemed very good and the price online was for 5lts but they gave me the 6lts with no extra cost.

I doubt any of these merchants use a torque wrench for anything they do, look at all the overtightened wheel nuts (tortured with an airgun) that most tyre places carelessly crank up. Talking of torque figures though, does anyone know the correct torque for the oil drain plug on a 1.4 iDsi engine ? as I have been holding off doing this on my wifes Civic, until I can find this out. Ta muchly in advance.

an oil and filter change at honda costs ÂŁ91!! they do a holiday check and wash it, but that's it!!!! basiclly check everything you would anyway!!! fluids and tyre pressures etc.... but a dealers service record still counts for a hell of a lot if you sell your car private, no matter what the age!!
